I paint realistically working in transparent watercolours. For me, no other medium gives the same glow that comes from within a watercolour painting. My obsession with watercolour began in 2002 during an afternoon workshop and I've been painting every day since then. I've flooded my friends and family with my paintings and they encouraged me to keep painting. Stepping outside my comfort zone, I constantly push the medium and myself to see what we both can do. I feel that my work is successful if I am able to tell a story, evoke an emotion in the viewer or capture the reality of the moment. I am drawn to the strong play of light and shadow on everyday objects. I am fascinated with reflections and colourful shadows, and strong darks are the first thing I notice. I've authored articles for an International Artist magazine and I've won several awards in juried exhibitions. My recent work is held Internationally in private collections in the United States, Canada, Australia, Belgium, France and England. I am married and have three children and two granddaughters. I have a large extended family and we all love to spend time by the small lake where my Husband and I make our home. Retired from my full time job outside the home, I'm thrilled to be able to dedicate more time in my Studio! I love teaching watercolour part-time and consider myself fortunate to be surrounded by so many talented Students!
