My goal is to create fine art photographs which give the viewer a glimpse of a world that is in plain sight but few can see. A world that is hidden by the visual overload of the modern world and people's preconceptions that have built up over their lifetimes. Beneath that clutter are hints of the simplicity that I strive to reveal; this visible, yet invisible world, the essence of a moment or a place with a single photograph which strikes a chord in the heart of the viewer. People often tell me, "Wow! I know that place but never noticed what you saw!” Great photography is the rare marriage of the creativity of art with the technique of craft and the precision of science. If any one of these elements is missing, a photograph falls short of its full potential. My photography benefits from over 20 years experience as a computer consultant and programmer, building sophisticated database systems, which requires a similar blend of creativity, craft, and extreme attention to detail. A camera does not see the way the human eye does, and thus the images the camera takes are just an unfinished canvas for me: I spend dozens of hours in Photoshop on a single image applying my artistic vision in minute detail, like a painter, so that the final photograph reflects what I felt, not necessarily what the camera saw. I was born in Slovakia and moved to Canada when I was 7 years old. I live in the beautiful Hockley Valley with my wife, dog, and cat, exploring the local countryside by motorcycle or on foot, often accompanied by my dog, Daisy. My constant excursions give me a deep familiarity and affinity with some of Ontario's most beautiful lands. My photographs have been in shown numerous juried art exhibitions, including the Elora Arts Council's Insights Juried Art Exhibition and the Headwaters Arts gallery at the Alton Mill Arts Centre. I received the first place "Juror's Choice" award at the "Awakenings" show in May, 2014. I also have a number of pieces on long term display at the fine Black Birch Restaurant in Hockley Valley.
