Leonard Jubenville (born 1941), is a Canadian artist based in Chatham-Kent, ON. He graduated from the Ontario College of Art and Design and earned an honours degree in anthropology from the University of Windsor. Leonard served on the committee that founded the Thames Art Gallery in Chatham, and in the past was the educational co-ordinator and curator of the gallery. At present, he serves on the ARTspace Advisory Board, and is also a member of the Francophone artist group BRAVO-Sud. The mediums of oil and drawing are his preferred methods of working. Starting out as a landscape painter, he now concentrates on the figure, especially portraits. In 2008, the book Up To Now was published as a retrospective of his work, as was a major article in the fall edition of Magazine Art. Several catalogues of his work have also been printed. Leonard has exhibited widely and has been the recipient of numerous painting awards, as well as a number of Ontario Arts Council grants. His work has been collected by both public galleries and private collectors in Canada and the United States. He lives on a farm in Chatham-Kent with his wife. They have two sons.
