The second piece, entitled History, is a silent reminder of all the people who have worked our land, their lives spent in providing nourishment for others. They were born, worked and died, their barns remaining to stand against time and the elements until they too go back to the earth which provided them.

New to this area, I arrived here in the summer of 2009 and am also new to displaying my own work. I recently studied under a highly regarded professional photographer in California and I am now bringing my own perspective and style to the discipline of photography. I am a new exhibiting member of ARTSpace in Chatham and heard about the Desmond Juried Art Exhibition for the first time in an April edition of Chatham This Week.
I am Canadian and grew up in Canada, but have been out of the country for several years and am excited to be exploring and re-discovering the country of my youth through photography. The photographs I submitted reveal the many aspects of rural life in Canada from the decaying remains and ghosts of forgotten farms to the new technology and popularity of windmills.
Although photography has always been an interest of mine, this is the first exhibition I have ever submitted work for, and I look forward to seeing the different ways local artists interpret this vast land of ours. Thank you for bringing a new dimension to the artistic community of Chatham-Kent; I greatly appreciate your time and consideration.
