Barbara Jane Jack has enjoyed moving to oil painting after many years of experimenting with other artistic pursuits. Oil paints allow freedom of expression with their rich hues and malleable texture. Concentrating on landscapes is not limiting because of the endless choices of locations and seasons. The addition of architecture and figures allows the viewer to identify the time and locale, making each scene more personal.

Barbara Jane Jack first took classes at the Thames Art Gallery, and the Thames Institute of the Arts. She continues to take workshops wherever possible. Recent workshops with Carolyn Jasper in North Carolina, Heiner Hertling in Milford Michigan, Marc Hanson in Traverse City and Ian Roberts in Goderich have helped to keep her abreast of new techniques and materials. Her paintings are available at Artspace in Chatham.
