After many years of other artistic endeavours I was introduced to oil painting at the Thames Institute of the Arts. Additional classes with Heiner Hertling, Carolyn Jasper and Marc Hanson have introduced me to new ideas and techniques in contemporary realism. Oil painting allows such freedom of expression with its rich hues and malleable texture. Concentrating on landscapes allows for endless choices of location and season. The addition of figures and architecture lets the viewer place the scene in time and geography.
